Radius Housing hold St Patrick’s site careers & information event

Radius Housing is hosting an open day for anyone from the local community to find out more about the St Patrick’s Barracks site, which is currently being developed with 135 new homes. The drop in event, which will take place between 2pm and 4pm on Wednesday 25th January in the Adair Arms, Ballymena, will also provide employment and training information for those who may be thinking about an apprenticeship or training in the construction sector.

Radius Housing is currently constructing 135 new homes at the site of St Patrick’s Barracks, and the open day will provide information about the employment and apprenticeship opportunities on that project. In attendance will be MJ McBride, the lead contractor of the St Patrick’s site, as well as Northern Regional College, Mid & East Antrim Borough Council and the Construction Industry Training Board NI (CITBNI). Also available on the day, will be information on the community development work which will take place alongside the construction, and Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) will be there to explain how the housing allocation process works.

The new homes at the St Patrick’s Barracks site are the latest development by Radius Housing, part of a £29m housing-led regeneration project in the local area. Radius is a leading social housing developer, building 300 new homes each year and managing more than 13,000 homes across Northern Ireland.

Speaking ahead of the event, David Shepherd from Radius Housing said “The development of the new homes at the St Patrick’s Barracks site is a major project for Radius Housing, and this event will provide more information about the overall project, the benefits it can bring to the local area and the type of homes we are building. The organisations in attendance will be able to answer any questions the community may have to build a better understanding.

At all Radius Housing development projects, we ensure that there are opportunities for apprenticeships and training. The open day will also be a chance for anyone thinking of training in a trade, to find out more about what it may involve and what they can do to begin a career in construction. I would encourage anyone who may be thinking about it to come along to find out more.”
